EnvironmentThe Key Strategic Partnership for the Environment theme is Swansea Environmental Forum. |
The Partnership Vision is by 2020:
- Swansea’s unique and diverse natural environment will be protected, enhanced and promoted to maximize social, economic and environmental well-being.
- Swansea will have strong, sustainable and distinctive communities where everyone can enjoy a clean, safe and high-quality built environment with a mix of well-designed and resource-efficient buildings, affordable housing and open spaces.
- Swansea’s water resources, land and waste will be managed sustainably to maximise benefits for everyone and minimise risks to the environment and human health
- Swansea’s citizens will live near to work opportunities, leisure facilities and essential services, have access to a choice of convenient and efficient transport options, and enjoy clean air
- All people living in, working in and visiting Swansea will understand, respect and appreciate our environment and will participate in positive actions towards sustainability.
There are currently 90 members of the Forum, 40 of which are from the voluntary / third sector.
The Executive Committee has 19 members of which 6 are voluntary / third sector representatives. Details can be found within ‘Contacts’.
Sustainable Swansea Steering Group
The Sustainable Swansea initiative is comprised of a range of projects that are helping the City and Council of Swansea to become a more sustainable place to live, work, and visit. The Steering Group for Sustainable Swansea meets every six weeks and consists of 7 members, of which 4 are voluntary / third sector representatives, details of which can be found within ‘Contacts’
